Lube Up

Whoever you’re fucking, lube makes everything easier and you both have a lot more fun. More importantly, it helps keep the condom in one piece, and keeps you safe, but you have to make sure you use the right kind of lube – water based or silicon based are the only kinds to use to get you slip-sliding away.

Lube keeps everything going nice and smoothly, whether you’re wanking or fucking. There are a lot of brands out there today, but the key thing to check for is that it’s water-based or silicon-based. They often come in pump bottles, making it easy to access, and the label will tell you what’s in it.

Silicon-based lubes are extra-slippery, but don’t forget - they can stain fabric like your sheets or towels, and can damage sex-toys that are made of silicon as well. But they do feel great!

Other sorts of lube like massage oil, Vaseline, baby oil or cooking oil cause the latex in the condom to weaken and make it fall apart on you fast, and that’s just what you don’t want. Don’t use them. And spit generally won’t do the trick for most of us – you need too much of it, and it dries out fast.

Crisco is popular for guys into fisting and serious arse-play with toys, but it’s not a water-based lube so don’t use it with condoms.

When you’re getting fucked some guys like lots of lube, some not so much, everyone is different, but the amount in a free sachet is usually enough for two guys to have fun. Generally speaking though, the more lube the better.

Make sure it stays on the outside of the condom – if you lube your cock up and then put a condom on, it can slide off too easily. Check the lube for spermicide. You don’t want lube with this stuff in it, because it irritates the inside of your arse and can make it easier to infect. Spermicide is there to kill sperm so women don’t get unwanted babies – it won’t help you keep HIV away.

Remember: The key thing to check is that it’s a water-based or silicon-based lube, then you know it won’t weaken your condom, and you’ll be safe to have fun.
