World AIDS Day - Getting to Zero

It's World AIDS Day (WAD) today across the globe, and it's an important day for us here at Get it On!
This year the UN has chosen the theme of "Getting to Zero", meaning zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related deaths and zero discrimination.
For a look at the global picture there's some great info here at the UNAIDS website - definitely worth checking out. If you want to get a picture of the epidemic here in NZ, the AIDS New Zealand site has all the data.
Part of what the UN are calling for is for you to "be an activist – make it happen". And that fits right in with what we want here at Get it On! too. We want all gay and bisexual men to “make it happen” and keep condom use as the normal and obvious thing to do when fucking. If we do that, we'll play an important role in "getting to zero”.
By keeping yourself, your sexual partners, your lovers and your mates safe you are playing an active role in getting to zero and that is something to be proud of. A simple condom and a splash of lube allows us to have as much hot sex as we like while protecting one another.
A greater awareness of HIV is also important - the public need to know what it's like and it's great to see three people telling their story here in the NZ Herald today.
We've been living with this for 30 years now - Imagine a world without HIV or AIDS: it'd be pretty amazing, and it's not impossible if we all do our bit and reach for the rubber.
